Founded in 1974, YouthCare was the first shelter for homeless youth in the Western United States and continues to be a leader in providing services to this vulnerable population. YouthCare currently operates in 11 sites serving the greater Seattle area and provides services that range from street outreach and residential housing to education and employment training.
Blueprint Fox was contracted to design a Technology Employment Program for homeless and unstably housed young adults. The work involved comprehensive analysis and reporting of best practices in the field, accessibility of technology careers per demographic, an economic forecast of the technology sector, and the development and deployment of a survey to assess clients’ skill level and technology interest. The four-month project culminated in the creation of a tiered technology training program, expanding from pre-employment skills to industry recognized training and certification.
